Fifth-graders have been learning about using foreshortening to make artwork look more three-dimensional. They have also been using line and shape in their choice projects.
Third graders learned about contour and cross-contour lines and create observational drawings of fruit. They also used what they had learned about geometric shapes earlier in the year for their own choice pieces.
First grade studied the artist, Wassily Kandinsky, and created "Kandinsky Corn" based on his painting, Squares with Concentric Circles. They focused on shapes and warm and cool colors.
This past Friday I presented this slideshow at the Ashburnham-Westminster Foundation for Academic Excellence dinner. Last year and the year before I write a grant to the Foundation for the 3D Start. The following slideshow explains what the 3D Start is and does, as well as shows what fourth-graders have been working on in art class.
